The ResetPlug gathers information to understand your connection to the Internet. You might have some concerns as to what it does on your wireless network, so we want to be very clear in an easy to understand way. The only goal of the ResetPlug is to make sure you have a clear path to the Internet. It does not spy on you. It doesn’t know who you are. Our only goal is to make the Internet work better. We are not going to try to “monetize” your data. That is why it is a paid app.

The ResetPlug web app does not do the following things:

It does not collect your network password. Your password is only used to connect to your network. It is never sent to our servers. We do not care.

It does not spy on you in any way, it does not know who you are. There are plenty of other companies that do this, we are not one of them. The ResetPlug only cares about making sure you have a clear path to the Internet. That is all.

It does not communicate with any other devices on your wireless network. The only thing the ResetPlug does is try to connect to the Internet.

The ResetPlug web app does do the following things:

It does get your external IP address and the other routers that connect you to the Interent. We do not share this data with anyone.

It does get your ISP name. We do not share this data with anyone.

It does get the WiFi signal from your router. We do not share this data with anyone.

It does get test the connection to the Internet (this is not a bandwidth test, it uses very little bandwidth to do this). We do not share this data with anyone.

It does get your WiFi network name. This is only to display to you in the app. We do not share this data with anyone.

In the future we may choose to make public data about what routers are good and which are terrible. Or which Internet providers are good vs which are terrible. If we make this data available it will not have any identifying information in any way. It is only to hopefully help router manufacturers and ISPs improve their products and their network. Again, our goal is only to make your WiFi experience better. If you have questions, feel free to email support.
